World’s Oldest Dog Celebrates Birthday

No, I’m not talking about Jack Nicholson, silly…
Please join me in wishing Chanel, a dachshund from Long Island, a very happy 21st birthday. While most folks celebrate their 21st with copious body shots and even more hours on the bathroom floor, Chanel simply took a rare trip from her home to venture into Manhattan’s Dog Hotel & Spa, complete with an oversized birthday cake and many of her closest canine friends– which is about all little Chanel can handle these days.
Named the oldest dog by Guinness World Records last year, Chanel’s red hair faded to white a long time ago. Her cataracts force her to wear special doggie glasses — which, I have to note, are totally bitchin’ — and her home is kept at a constant 72 degrees. She eats boiled chicken with whole-wheat pasta, and a specially selected soft treat designed for her ancient teeth.
Chanel spends her days relaxing at home, only taking walks in the summer.
Pasta with chicken? Soft treats? Chillin’ at home? Where can I sign up?
