Shiloh-gate: The Experts Weigh in on Her Haircut
Feb 25, 2010 | Filed Under: Celebrities,Pop Culture
Just when the nation finally started to recover from the sight of Suri Cruise in high heels, yet another celebrity toddler has rocked their world:
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, who has dared to get a — GASP! — slightly unconventional haircut. Thankfully, the hair experts are weighing in on this important matter on Us Weekly.
Highlights from their analyses:
“It’s not a contrived look. A short, cropped little shag like that is great for a little kid. It’s gonna grow out well. She can go roll around the dirt and still look really cute,” says stylist and StyloNY.com co-founder Giulia Heiman.
“It’s very Princess Charming. The new ‘do “embrace[s] femininity in a [style] that’s not superlong. Not all little girls have to look like beauty queens with pageant hair,” explains Matthew James Fugate of of Manhattan’s Sam Brocato Salon.
“It’s a precious haircut and she has a beautiful face,” says Rachel Gower of Upper Hand Salons in Houston, Tex. and an on-air style expert. But Gower, who often cuts kids’ hair, speculates whether Shiloh’s “modified pixie” was intentional. “That’s a real precision haircut” for wiggly three-year olds, she adds. “What will happen is, you’re about to make a really important cut, and the child jerks…It might have been that was going to get a bob at first!”
“A short haircut on a girl isn’t always that easy to carry. Shiloh can carry it. She’s very easygoing, like her parents, and can carry a lot of looks well,” Cozy Friedman of Cozy’s Cuts for Kids in Manhattan says, breaking down the look.
How funny would it be if it turned out Shiloh cut her hair HERSELF? Three-year-olds have certainly been known to do that. Including yours truly.
It’s only a matter of time until middle-aged women are going to the salon requesting “The Shiloh.”
