The Baby Brag Card
Sep 4, 2009 | Filed Under: Babies,Candy's Column,Kids | Tags: Birth Announcement, Skylar
After posting my silly “birth announcements gone horribly wrong,” a number of readers e-mailed me requesting to see our REAL brag card, er… I mean, birth announcement for Miss Skye. I couldn’t post it before all of our friends and family members received it — Can you imagine the family brouhaha I’d create if YOU saw the announcement before Aunt Judy in Cincinnati did?! Familial blasphemy! — but now that they’ve been properly notified of Skylar’s arrival, here it is:
Before somebody asks, and you just know somebody will… NO, the corporate watermark was not on the final version. (How did I know somebody would ask? Well, um, because both Mr. Candy and I did when WE saw the mock-up. To which the company responded, “Uh, NO. Duh!” Hmpf. So much for there being no such thing as a stupid question.)
I waded through — just an estimate here — forty gazillion Web sites in an attempt to avoid pink and, as you can see, I was very successful. *AHEM* I also wanted a tri-fold announcement so people would have the option of standing it up somewhere. Unlike, say, the single-sheet postcard version that I, not being a fan of putting stuff on my fridge (until Skye starts cranking out genius renderings of blue sheep with no legs and whatnot), am never sure what to do with. Yes, that’s right: I paid extra money and searched far and wide for the tri-fold because I believed I was doing our peeps a favor. How thoughtful of me, I gloated as I patted myself on the back.
So what did my cousin have to say about our brilliant tri-fold brag card?
“I had to cut up Skylar’s announcement so I could put it on our fridge.”
