Denise Richards Snags Free Gifts by Throwing a Baby Shower for Eloise

Way back when, before I had kids and regularly washed my hair, I threw a baby shower for my cousin who had just moved to Los Angeles and was pregnant with her — GASP! — second baby.  Yes!  I threw a shower for the second child, naively assuming you were supposed to celebrate all of your offspring.  Silly, silly me.

“I’ve never heard of throwing a shower for the second child,” one of my cousin’s friends sniffed, making me feel like a complete a complete dolt.

Also:  this was way back when we used the word “dolt.”

So I’m relieved to know I’m not the ONLY dolt, as Denise Richards threw a baby shower — yup, for herself, no less — in Beverly Hills for her third daughter Eloise Joni, whom she adopted last month.

“So excited for Eloise’s shower today,” Denise, 40, Tweeted Saturday. “Gonna be amazing!”

Famous pals including Tori Spelling, Melanie Brown, Nancy O’Dell, Ali Landry, and Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin attended the party at the Montage Hotel. Those boozers sipped champagne and presented Denise and her daughter with gifts, including a pink Stokke stroller and baskets of baby clothes, plush toys and Baby JaR bibs, burpies and blankets.

The decor included pink and black flowers, inspired by the classic Eloise children’s book series (see what they did there?), and a cake topper with a replica Eloise and her big sisters, Denise’s daughters Sam, 7, and Lola Rose, 6.

Although ex-husband Charlie Sheen could not attend the baby festivities, he thoughtfully sent a vial of his tiger blood for good luck.  Awwww.
