And the Winner of the Baby Freedom Betting Pool is…

A hearty WOOT! WOOT! goes out to Laughing Stork reader, Grace, who came the closest to guessing Baby Drew’s birth date and weight (guess:  Morning of June 13; 8 lbs., 6 oz./actual: Morning of June 13; 9 lbs., 12 oz), to win the Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer-sponsored “Kids Night Out: Dinner & A Movie” package.  Interestingly, only three of you were even in the ballpark of his weight, with most of you totally underestimating my ability to carry the apparent spawn of The Hulk.

The cutest Hulk spawn ever, of course.  But his lovechild nonetheless.

Congrats again to Mama Grace!

Step right up and place your bets, folks!

Once again, we’re going to observe the arrival of my child — this time, Baby Boy Freedom — with the purest form of celebration: a betting pool.

Please help us welcome Freedom into this world with a prize on his (supposedly very large) head.  The winner of the pool will get a “Kids Night Out: Dinner & A Movie” package — sponsored by the folks behind the upcoming family film Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer which includes $50 of Fandango Movie Bucks and a $50 Red Robin gift card.  So while Mr. Candy and I are stuck inside changing runny newborn diapers and discouraging our toddler from chugging hand sanitizer, you can enjoy a free night out.  Don’t feel guilty or anything!  (Yeah, I know you won’t.)  Although that prize package is only available to U.S. residents, I also encourage my dear readers outside of the U.S. to enter.  I can find SOMETHING to give you, I’m sure.  (How do used baby girl clothes sound?  No…?)

Simply guess when you think Freedom will arrive — the birth date, plus whether you think he will make his grand entrance in the morning (5 a.m. – 11:59 a.m.), the afternoon (12 p.m. – 6 p.m.), the evening (6:01 p.m. – 11:59 p.m.) or overnight (12 a.m. – 4:59 a.m.) — and, for the purposes of a tie-breaker, his birth weight.  And the tie-breaker to break the tie-breaker, whether you think his head will be smaller or bigger than a beach ball.

As most of you know, this has been a somewhat drama-filled pregnancy.  Some back-story to help you make a more educated guess:

Due Date: June 18, 2011

State of the Cervix: SHORT.  Holding steady between .9 – 1.8 cm. since 26 weeks.

State of Amniotic Fluid: HIGH.  Fluctuating anywhere between 21 – 30 cm.

3D ultrasound-based weight estimate: HUGE.  6 – 7 lb.s at my 34-week checkup.

Position of Freedom: Transverse as of Monday, May 16.

Birth Date of Firstborn: Announced her intentions to arrive on her due date, actually arrived one day thereafter (40 weeks, 1 day)

Birth Weight of Firstborn: 7 lbs., 13 oz.

Instead of asking you to submit your guess in the comments section, as I did last time, I thought we’d make it more fair by asking for entries via submission form (posted after the jump).  Deadline is Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 5:00 PDT.  Best o’ luck, Baby Betters!

More about the “supermegatotally-thrilladelic” family movie, Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer — which opens nationwide on June 10th — starring Heather Graham and up-and-coming actress Jordana Beatty.

Rating: PG
Runtime: 91 minutes

When her best-laid plans for a summer full of fun go comically awry, an imaginative young girl creates her own vacation adventures in Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer. Based on the beloved, bestselling book series by Megan McDonald, Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer is an irresistible and delightfully funny treat for adventure-loving kids and adults.

This summer, third grader Judy Moody is planning the most super-duper, double-rare summer vacation ever with best friends Rocky and Amy. Except that it turns out Rocky is going to circus camp to learn to tame lions, and Amy is headed off to Borneo with her mom to save a lost tribe while Judy stays home with her pesky little brother Stink and second-best friend Frank Pearl.

Just when she thinks things are as rotten as they can be, her parents announce that they will be going to California and Judy will have to stay behind with her Aunt Opal, who she’s never even met! It looks like Judy’s best summer ever has just become her way worst summer ever.

But feisty, fearless and ever-funny Judy Moody never gives up! With help from some unexpected sources, she’s headed for a summer full of surprises in this charming and spirited family film. Get ready, get set, get MOODY!
