One Year, Baby!

Today marks The Laughing Stork’s one-year anniversary, and it nearly came and went with nary a word from me because my parents are visiting and they had an emergency need to eat by the beach, followed by some life-or-death shopping on Melrose.  Namely, my mom and I were going to DIE if we didn’t find cute tops to wear for our next lunch by the beach.

Thank goodness we came across that sales rack when we did.

Lives and wardrobes saved, I can finally take a moment to write this post, which is a self-congratulatory celebration of The Laughing Stork, which is a celebration of the humor in family life, so it seems appropriate to share this gem from my mom today:

“Skylar is just so SWEET!  [Pause]  She must get her disposition from her father.”

So, yeah, it’s been a whole year since I “officially” launched this site.  I would like to thank you, the readers, for joining me on this crazy parenting journey, from pregnancy “ghost slime” to gravity-defying baby poop, and sharing your own stories, which certainly make the site more entertaining.  I have been concerned, however, that reader comments have been way too civilized and nice and clever — because, let’s face it, if anything brings out The Crazy, it’s the anonymity of the Internet — and The Crazy is usually a sign of a site’s growing popularity.  So color me DELIGHTED to receive this comment (the last one) the day before my anniversary.

After reading her conclusion, I consider The Crazy officially BROUGHT.  Woo-hoo!

I have some goodies in store for The Laughing Stork, including a retooled video blog that I’m relaunching in the coming weeks, and expanded resources and content — such as The Storktionary — which I’ve slowly been adding at the bottom of the site.  I’ve also added a photoblog section to showcase fun and/or striking pictures, and encourage readers armed with a camera and a pet ferret wearing a tuxedo — or whomever your subject may be — to submit your photos for the photoblog.

But, seriously.  If you have a tuxedo-wearing pet ferret…?  That would be awesome.

Here’s to many more years of family-inspired chuckles and even more TGIF drinks
