Nicole Richie and Joel Madden Getting Hitched After All

After three years together and two kids, Joel Madden and Nicole Richie have decided to ruin it all and get married.   (I kid, I kid.  *Ahem*)

“Yep. i’m engaged. Very happy. Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so your [sic] all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same,” Joel Tweeted Monday night, after news of their plans to wed became public.

Let’s hope spell check and the contraction of “you are” is on their wedding registry.

He also expressed thanks to relatives who did not let word of the engagement slip.

He Tweeted: “P.s. thats why i love my family and friends. None of them are sources. All good tight lipped people who let us enjoy it! Thanks everybody”

Nicole confirmed the engagement during a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman.  No word on whether Dave shared his “Top 10 Sure-Fire Tips for a Happy Marriage” — with number one being:  STAY AWAY FROM THE INTERNS.
