Transport Your Precious Cargo with the Mutsy Transporter
Here in Los Angeles, it’s all about the wheels you drive. And when you’re a mom in Los Angeles…? It’s all about the ‘stylin wheels in which you push your child — like this new Mutsy Transporter.
I have not yet had the opportunity to take one out for a spin. I have, however, become a bit of a stroller geek since becoming a mama — both my hubby and I turn our heads to check out a sweet Maclaren ride now in the way we used to do with Aston Martins — and thought I’d share the 411 about this brand spankin’ new stroller with my fellow geeks in the market for new baby wheels.
Made by Netherlands-based Mutsy, the Transporter is touted as the company’s “most affordable and lightest weight stroller to date.”
It’s not a lightweight in the features department, however.
The sporty-looking Transporter can be used in combination with a bassinet (sold separately), or a Graco, Peg Perego or Maxi-Cosi car seat (adapters also sold separately). The Transporter seat can easily be completely removed for a sleek look as a pram or travel system. The four quick-release wheels are easily removable, allowing for even greater compactness and lightness when folded — good for parents like me, who have a sporty car without a ton of trunk space. Other features include a height-adjustable 4-position push bar and back support adjustment. Choose from a variety of mostly neutral colors: black, grey, red (my fave) or sand.
The not-so-great features: There is no cup holder, so us latte addicts will just have to strap on a caffeine IV drip instead. Also, the foot rest for older children, while functional, does not extend. And the basket…? Isn’t the most spacious you’ll find, fitting the equivalent of a medium-sized diaper bag.
The design, however, is remarkably cool, compact and fresh-looking. And all that high style comes with a relatively sane price — $399 ($150 for the optional bassinet).
Just the push you need.
