An Important State of the Cats Update

As you can see, curiosity has replaced Marcy’s initial depression over the arrival of Skylar.  She checks the baby out from time to time, always careful not to get too close, because that would suggest acceptance.  And Marcy hasn’t reached that stage in her therapy sessions yet.  In fact, I’m pretty sure Marcy is STILL working through her feelings of anger and betrayal for the time we forced her to wear a Santa hat for our 2005 holiday cards.  So embracing a new sibling…?  Quite a ways off.

"Why does everyone find this thing so fascinating? Hell, it sleeps even more than I do!"

Matty, on the other hand, is more simple:

He thought Skylar’s swing could use a decorative furry area rug — let’s face it, it really could — and was more than happy to offer up himself.  Given how much kibble he demands, however, it probably would have been cheaper to buy one at Pottery Barn.

Candy Kirby is the founder of The Laughing Stork and a professional fun-maker who will never stop chasing her lifelong dream: to find the Pomeranian or porn star after whom her parents must have named her. A humor columnist for Disney, Nickelodeon, Scary Mommy, Reductress and Redbook, she also used to be a staff writer for the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she penned many scripts featuring prolonged heated stares and countless “Who’s the Daddy?” story lines. Candy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two young kids and three rescue Persian cats, the latter of whom are the real brains behind this operation (so send all complaints to them).
