Matthew McConaughey Kicks Off New Year with Baby Girl

While I spent MY Sunday doing glamorous things like unpacking and reacquainting the baby with Pacific Standard Time (ha, ha), Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves were doing something a tad more life-changing:  welcoming their second child, a baby girl, into the world.

Mateo announced on his Web site:

“Happy New Year everybody!!! On Sunday, Jan. 3rd at 12:13am, Camila gave birth to a healthy 7lb. 7oz. baby girl named “Vida Alves McConaughey”…. Vida is Portuguese for “life” and that’s what God gave us this morning… Camila’s recovering wonderfully and we are both truly honored to welcome this little lady into our family… thanks for all your well wishes and prayers along the way. another blessed day. we give thanks. just keep livin, Matthew and Camila”

As a member of the Ricky Martin Generation, I cannot possibly say “Vida” without thinking of “Livin ‘La Vida Loca.”  So… congrats on the arrival of little La Vida Loca, guys!  Just know that your baby will never drink the water and will make you order French champagne.  And she WILL wear you out.  Truer words have never been spoken by Sir Ricky Martin.
