If a Mother Falls Sick and No One Is Around to Care, Does Her Whining Make a Sound?

ME: I feel like crap. I think I’m coming down with a cold.
MR. CANDY: Oh no! I hope you don’t give it to Skylar.
ME: Her diaper exploded all over me… and the couch… and the floor… today.
MR. CANDY: Oh no! Poor baby probably needs a bath.
ME: My throat hurts. My whole body aches. [PAUSE] I could really use a big hug…
Five seconds into the hug:
MR. CANDY: I can’t wait until Skylar can hug…
ME: [*SIGH*] At least I’ve got my Snuggie.

Just a warning that I think every labor and delivery nurse should warn every new mom…/just wait till your husband gets sick…he becomes completely useless and is always twice as sick as you/ There is usually a lot of moaning, shuffling around the house in slippers, very dramatic coughing and other annoying behavior. As a mother of four I have figured out how to never get sick, I hope you get well soon.

I totally agree with Tara, although I discovered the “husband turns into a whining sniveling helpless baby when sick” thing before we had children. (I also discovered the “MIL offers to fly 1000 miles to take care of her son properly because his wife is not doing a good enough job” thing at the same time, which should have sent up HUGE warning flags to me.) Now that we have children, however, I use the “I already have two babies to take care of” line when darling hubby is sick.
Regardless, I feel for you Candy. It’s true that there’s no one to take care of YOU when you’re sick. I hope you feel better soon!

Okay Candy, even though I live in Canada I’m still blaming you for my cold! Thanks so much for sharing the germs of motherhood
