Tweet! Tweet! Nicole Richie with Her Baby Sparrow

Because tabloids are the new birth announcements (and cash cow) for celebrities, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are introducing their six-week-old son Sparrow James (just a sec, I have to catch my breath… okay, let’s continue:) Midnight Madden in this week’s People magazine.

In an interview at their home in Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles, Nicole, 28, and Joel, 30, say they are sleep-deprived (join the club), but grateful their daughter Harlow is now fawning over a baby brother.

“I’m glad I had a girl before I had a boy,” says Nicole. “She just loves him so much.”  Adds Nicole’s babydaddy, “She’s very gentle with him.”

That’s all well and good, but I want to know more about THE SECRET LIVES OF ALCOHOLIC MOMS!  Gotta love it when that headline is juxtaposed with your new family photo on the cover of a national magazine.
