The “Whoa” Report: Woman Gives Birth to 19-Pound Baby

Yowza.  This picture should be distributed in high school sex education class. If that doesn’t encourage teenage girls to use protection, I don’t know what will…

A woman in Indonesia has given birth to the country’s biggest baby ever — tipping the scales at a whopping 19.2 lbs.  He was born vaginally.

No!  I kid!  Your vagina can come out of hiding now…

The 24.4-inch boy was, of course, delivered by cesarean section and needs “almost non-stop feeding.”  One of the doctors involved in the surgery said the “special delivery” was no easy feat.

Yeah, tell that to the woman who had to CARRY the baby for nine months.

“This heavy baby made the surgery really tough, especially the process of taking him out of his mum’s womb.  His legs were so big,” the doctor said.

The boy’s size was most likely the result of his 41-year-old mother having diabetes.  Poor thing.  When a diabetic mother’s glucose level is high during pregnancy, the baby can receive too much glucose and grow excessively large.  So it would seem.

My favorite part is the look on the other baby’s face.  He’s all, “This dude’s got issues.”

I’m shocked because of the baby’s size, and I’m sad because, as Gina from Oregon mentioned, they didn’t provide a blankie big enough to swaddle him.

    “needs almost non-stop feeding.” – don’t they all :-)

Wow, what a big boy! That’s practically the weight of three normal sized newborn babies. I think my children weighed 19 lbs. at about 9-10 months, it’s hard to believe a newborn could come out that big.
